Yihao Zheng
RESEARCH INVESTIGATOR, MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
Dr. Yihao Zheng is the head of the Biomedical Manufacturing Lab. He received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Shandong University, China in 2012, and his MS and PhD in Mechanical Engineering from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, in 2014 and 2016.
His research focuses on medical devices design, biomedical machining, tissue mechanics, catheter-based surgical tool dynamics, and medical simulation. He applies manufacturing technologies and theories in medical device design and clinical procedure modeling in cardiovascular intervention, neurosurgery, and orthopedic surgery. He also seeks to obtain fundamental understanding in mechanical properties and cutting mechanics of atherosclerotic plaque and bone tissue. Dr. Zheng has worked on joint projects with UM Cardiovascular Center, Neurosurgery, Orthopaedic Surgery, Plastic Surgery, and Otolaryngology. Jingxuan (Jessie) Lyu
PhD STUDENT, MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
Jingxuan Lyu is a PhD student in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Michigan (UM), Ann Arbor, USA. She is currently a graduate student assistant in Biomedical Manufacturing Lab at UM guided by Dr. Yihao Zheng. She received her BS in Mechanical Engineering from University of Wisconsin - Madison in 2017. She is working on ultrasound and atherectomy.

Chang Liu
RESEARCH ASSISTANT, MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
Chang is a Research Assistant of the Biomedical Manufacturing Lab. He received his B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Tianjin University, Tianjin, China in 2016, and his M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, US in 2018. He will be a PhD student in Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Notre Dame starting from fall 2019 semester.
His interests include computational design exploration of legged robotics systems, identifying regions of skipping gait, exploring bipedal gaits with simple models, gait transitions identification (bifurcations identification), atherectomy methodologies and techniques, manufacturing system & paradigm analysis. Evan Davis
RESEARCH ASSISTANT, MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
Evan is a Research Assistant of the Biomedical Manufacturing Lab. He received his BS in Bioengineering from Oregon State University, Corvallis, US in 2018. He is applying to Biomedical and Biomechanical Engineering PhD programs for the Fall 2019 semester.
His research interests include medical device development – prosthetics, implants and surgical tools, and their interaction with the surrounding tissue.
Daniel Gebrezgiabhier
RESEARCH ASSISTANT, NEUROSURGERY
Daniel is a research assistant at the BMM-lab. He is working on Clot Buster for emergency treatment of ischemic stroke caused by large vessel occlusion.

Adithya Reddy
RESEARCH ASSISTANT, MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
Adithya is a research assistant working for the Biomedical Manufacturing Lab and the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Michigan. He received his BSE in Biomedical Engineering with a concentration in electrics at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI in 2018. He planning to pursue a degree in medicine.
His current work includes research in mechanical thrombectomy modeling, methodologies and techniques, as well as in mechanical properties of soft tissues include blood clots and cerebral vasculature.

Lauren Wojciechowski
UNDERGRADUATE STUDENT, MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
Lauren is a UROP (Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program) student studying in the Biomedical Manufacturing Lab headed by Dr. Yihao Zheng. She is currently a freshman at the University of Michigan pursuing a BS in Mechanical Engineering.
She is planning to obtain an MS in Biomedical Engineering in the future. She is interested in the design and development of medical/surgical devices, but is unsure of what specifically she would like to research in the future.
Emily Deng
UNDERGRADUATE STUDENT, BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING
​Emily is a student in UROP (Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program) assisting in the Biomedical Manufacturing Lab headed by Dr. Yihao Zheng. She is currently a freshman pursuing a BS in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Michigan and is planning on acquiring a MS in Biomedical Engineering in the future. Her research interests include medical devices, but are open to other research areas such as artificial intelligence.

Jason Lo
UROP STUDENT, BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING
Jason is an undergraduate engineer studying Biomedical Engineering with a minor in Materials Science and Engineering and additional pre-medicine coursework.
He is interested in regenerative medicine, bio-materials, and design of biomedical devices specifically targeting diseases of the circulatory system.
Ata Susamaz
UROP STUDENT, ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING
Ata is a UROP student in BMM-lab. He worked on Grinding Wheel Motion and Force During Plaque Removal by Rotational Atherectomy in Angulated Coronary Artery.
UNDERGRADUATE STUDENT, BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING
Lindsey Furness is a student assisting in the Biomedical Manufacturing Lab headed by Dr. Yihao Zheng. She is currently a sophomore at the University of Michigan pursuing a BS in Biomedical Engineering. She is interested in medicine, health, and technology and plans to go to medical school one day to become a physician. She is excited to be a part of this lab and to explore the design, manufacturing, and research taking place here!
